Additional information

Please contact me to schedule a consultation in your home. This is my opportunity to meet you and your pet(s) to learn about his/her/their needs, personality and environment and your chance to ask any questions you may have. I will also furnish references from other local clients.

If you decide that you want to schedule visits, please be prepared to exchange keys and leave a 50% deposit. You will be asked to fill out paperwork and provide contact numbers in the event of an emergency.

  • It is time consuming and inefficient to pick up and return keys before and after every visit. Although there is no obligation to book visits at the time of the consult, please understand that in order to serve you best, I will require a copy of your keys.
  • As a safety measure, I label keys with your pet's name--never your name or address--so they aren't traceable to your home.
  • Please test duplicate keys in advance of the consultation.

It's helpful to assemble everything necessary to care for your pet(s) in one area:
    • Mail key
    • Food
    • Medications
    • Litter & scoop
    • Plastic bags for waste disposal
    • Treats & toys
    • Cat carrier
    • Watering can for plants
    • Written instructions

  • Advise your sitter of anyone who may be on your premises or entering your home during your absence--housekeeper, relatives, friends, etc.
  • Instruct anyone else coming or going to make sure to securely lock all doors and windows.
  • Consider leaving a television or radio on while you are away. The noise can be a crime deterrent as well as provide comfort to your cat.
  • Unplug any unnecessary appliances before you leave. This will prevent damage from electrical storms as well as injuries to mischievous pets.
  • Give a key to a nearby neighbor or friend as a backup in the event of extreme weather. Be sure to inform your sitter of this person's name and number. If you don't have a neighbor you trust, be sure to provide the name and number of your landlord.
  • Daily visits are highly recommended. If there is an unfortunate emergency--a flood, a broken pipe, or your pet gets sick, it is much better for the situation to to be caught and dealt with earlier rather than later. Visits booked less frequently are not recommended and are the responsibility of the pet owner.

  • Remember to adjust your thermostat before leaving for the comfort of your pet; please leave all entrances and windows locked.
  • Please provide extra food, litter, and supplies just in case they are needed. You may not be able to return home when anticipated and the extras may become a necessity. Supply pickup is also available for an extra fee.
  • So that nothing is overlooked, please leave a brief note with instructions for caring for your pet.
  •

  • For peace of mind, you are welcome to e-mail to check on your cat(s) while you're away.
  • Whenever possible, try to make your reservations as far in advance as possible to ensure that care is available. Of course, once you are a regular customer, feel free to contact me any time for care and I will try my best to accommodate you!
